1. The Yankees’ lead in the AL East is down to six games

And a three-game series against the Rays starts tomorrow night.

2. And last night, it was Shohei Ohtani who did them in

Gerrit Cole on the mound, seventh inning — and a majestic three-run homer for the lead, into the bushes in dead center field.

That was all the Angels needed.

3. Timmy Trumpet finally played Edwin Diaz’s walk-in music live

The night prior, there was no save situation and the Mets lost. But then last night, it happened—maybe of the most electric scene in baseball this year.

4. The defensive play of the night: Brandon Nimmo

Seventh inning, one-run lead, and one of the clutch catches of the year.

5. And Jacob deGrom was dominant once again

Seven innings pitched, one earned run, nine strikeouts, and he lowers his season ERA to 1.98.

6. Orioles rookie Gunnar Henderson homered in his second at-bat

His first major-league hit is clobbered to right-center field, and his helmet didn’t make it out of the batter’s box — he had to show everyone the hair flow.

7. Josh Hader finally closed a game successfully

He’s been awful since the trade to San Diego, but maybe with a month left he still has time to round back into form.

8. Yankees fans are becoming increasingly fed up

A dwindling lead in the division. An aging, under-performing roster. A top prospect still stuck in the minors. Everyone attacking the GM.

Desperate times call for desperate measures:

9. Clayton Kershaw is back from the IL

And starting tonight at Citi Field.

10. And lastly, the surreal stat of the day

Sports synchronicity meets sports longevity.
