1. Today, we have four Division Series games

And currently underway is a surprise 7–3 Phillies lead over the Braves in Atlanta, with the Mariners vs. Astros series about to start.

2. Highlights from the game so far this afternoon

Max Fried vs. Ranger Suarez on the mound. A 101-win Braves team against an 87-win Phillies team. And yet, an early 7–1 lead for the underdogs:

Not really sure how these franchise valuation numbers keep skyrocketing year after year, when viewership numbers don’t change that much, population numbers don’t change that much, but hey — what do I know?

9. The Fernando Tatis Jr. PED suspension has an unexpected twist

The 80-game suspension includes Padres’ postseason games, so in theory if they go on to play (at most) 19 more games and win the World Series, he could return halfway through next April, shaving three weeks off his timeout clock.

On Twitter, I ran a 32-team bracket with the worst of the worst mistakes, blunders, bad plays and awful off-field moments of the year, put each matchup to a vote, and in the end, one of the four #1 seeds takes the “win”.
