4. Wil Myers is being sued by a country club in North Carolina
Now that’s an offseason headline.
The short version of the dispute: Myers and his wife joined a country club, paid part of the $80,000 membership fee, but not all, as they claim to have found it nearly impossible to get tee times, and so the club sued the Myers for the $64,000 they never received.
From The Charlotte Observer:
“The dispute is scheduled to go to trial in February — the second anniversary of Myers’ application for a Carmel membership and the point on the calendar when he’s normally packing for spring training.”

9. There’s now talk of a new Rays stadium in Tampa
The endless discussion continues on, with not much more to report but that the City of Tampa and the Rays are in talks about infrastructure spending, maybe meaning something could be done in tandem over the next decade.
From the Tampa Bay Times:
“We talk to people just like anybody,” Smith said, when asked if there had been any public input to the city’s requests either before or after they were vetted by the Rays. The team has been publicly identified as interested in a site around the old Kforce headquarters on Palm Avenue for an open-air, 27,000-seat stadium with an estimated price tag of $700 million. “I’m not going to go into detail about what was discussed.”
