1. The Yankees are the first team to 60 wins
Just one game past the halfway mark, not yet to the All-Star break — and they keep rolling along toward a well over 110-win season.
And here was the highlight of last night’s game at Fenway Park:
2. All-Star Game voting ends today
And two legends have been added to the rosters, by a great new rule that hopefully sticks around in the future.
3. The blunder of the day: Lourdes Gurriel Jr.
Not quite Jose Canseco level, with the boink off the noggin, but this is up there among the unfortunate yikes moments of the year.
4. Jorge Alfaro hit a walk-off to beat the Giants
And the Padres are still comfortably in that second-place spot in the NL West.
5. Mookie Betts hit two home runs last night
He’s been on fire since coming back off the IL.
6. Keith Hernandez will have his #17 retired by the Mets tomorrow
7. And a few other old New York baseball stars were in town, too
Either I’ve never realized how short Reggie Jackson is, or Derek Jeter and (especially) Dave Winfield are giant.
8. The defensive play of the day: JP Crawford
9. The quote of the day: Gerrit Cole on Rafael Devers
The Yankees got the win, but Devers continues to have Cole’s number. And so, the quote of the day, on how to get the guy out:
“I’m open to suggestions.”

10. And lastly, when a fly gets on the ballpark camera lens
Baseball broadcast magic.
