1. A home run in the KBO hit the top of the foul pole

You’ve never seen one like this before.

2. Max Scherzer had 11 strikeouts in his return

The Mets lost, but “Mad Max” is very much back.

3. Kyle Schwarber is on another historic hot streak

A good week for major-league players named Sch____er.

4. The All-Star Game has a new “legends” invite category

And we might be seeing an Albert Pujols appearance in his final season.

5. RFK Stadium caught fire yesterday

An unsettling scene, especially seeing how run down and overgrown it is, the massive and abandoned former home of the Nationals and Senators.

6. Seiya Suzuki has a HR in each of his games since the IL

7. Kris Bryant hits his first home run with the Rockies

He had an alright start to the year (high average, low power numbers), then got injured for over a month — and now, at last:

8. The stat of the day: The Orioles are bad but also good

The first team in MLB history to allow game-tying or go-ahead HRs in the last three innings and still win the game.

Meaning, they gave up the lead on home runs in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings — and still came back and won in extras.

9. Highlights from the Rays vs. Red Sox last night

Probably the best matchup of the first half of this week, and the Rays turned around a could’ve-gotten-away-from-them game into a win — including a brilliant bit of base running from Randy Arozarena (one of the worst, and most reckless, base runners in the league this year):

And earlier in the game, Trevor Story somehow hit this pitch over the Green Monster, like a real-life video game glitch.

The full highlights here:

10. And lastly, Abraham Toro speaks French to get his teammate Ty France into the All-Star Game

When you grow up in the Montreal area and you’ve got a guy named France in your clubhouse, it makes sense.
