1. The “Space Cowboys” are now officially here

The Skeeters have become the “Some People Call Them The” Space Cowboys, and minor-league baseball has a new top-ten name and mascot.

And a video, to brighten up (or potentially disturb) your Monday afternoon:

2. Shohei Ohtani is announced as the cover athlete for MLB The Show 22

Picking anyone else, after last year’s history-making season, just wouldn’t have felt right.

Here was the reveal in Times Square today, and (below) some behind-the-scenes clips of the making of the new game:

3. Some alternate ideas for the MLB The Show cover

Now I’m second-guessing the entire Ohtani choice.

4. The Dodgers signed two players from Uganda

This is very cool.

Here’s a video about the story:

5. Happy birthday, Jackie Robinson and Ernie Banks

6. Mike Trout’s weatherman side gig continues

One guy who doesn’t have to wonder about what he’ll do after his eventual retirement.

Here’s the video of his appearance on the Weather Channel over the weekend:

7. The baseball highlight of the day: Yu Darvish’s slider

You’d have to simply decide not to swing, and pray it’s a ball.

8. Carlos Beltran will call Yankees games on YES Network this season

Quite an odd choice, considering his significant role in the Astros sign-stealing scandal that still (rightfully) makes Yankee fans angry.

9. From ESPN: “When is it time to worry about spring training and Opening Day?”

With a full list of “when to worry” dates, that are fast approaching (article link below):

10. The Dodgers congratulate the Rams on making the Super Bowl

With a home game coming up in sunny L.A., too.

And here was before the NFC championship game, with some words from Dave Roberts:

11. Joc Pederson was high school football teammates with Packers WR Davante Adams

I’m sure the latter could come on as a defensive replacement to patrol the outfield of Dodger Stadium, just about all by himself.

12. Here’s Ken Rosenthal telling a great Brett Phillips story from the 2020 World Series

From the Rays’ TV host Tricia Whitaker, doing a sports media lecture at Indiana University.

13. The vintage baseball photos of the day

From Yogi Berra’s granddaughter, Lindsay:

14. An article from Doug Glanville on Barry Bonds missing out on the Hall of Fame

15. The Mets might be even more all-in than the all-in they already are

When you have the richest owner in baseball, you don’t hold back.

16. And lastly, Wrigley Field on a snowy night in Chicago
