Sometimes, a baseball moment comes along that’s so beautiful, so perfect, that it would be silly to waste words attempting vainly to capture it.
And so for today’s newsletter, the day after a most wonderful game in Dyersville, Iowa — something different, that I hope might raise some of those goosebumps on your arms, if you missed it last night.
Images, only. Of the pure, divine, genuinely breathtaking magic of the Field of Dreams game that played out by the cornfields of Iowa.
Or as some people call it, heaven.

You were thinking before the game: It sure would be nice to see a home run hit into those cornfields…
And then, the players gave us not one, but eight home runs.
Culminating in two two-run shots from Judge and Stanton in the ninth, to give the Yankees a sudden comeback lead.
And then, minutes later, Tim Anderson. With the winner into the corn. Fireworks above Iowa. Immaculate baseball beauty on full display, in the greatest game of the season.
Thank you, MLB, for creating a masterpiece.
